CRITICAL INCIDENT DEBRIEFINGCritical Incident De-briefing (CrID) uses a seven-phase process that acts as an intervention to prevent the onset of post traumatic event psychological difficulties. The original use of Critical Incident De-briefing or psychological de-briefing was to help members of the armed forces returning from war zones – later to be adopted for use by uniformed services i.e.: Police - fire -ambulance) In view of the escalating possibility of terrorist activity it has become appropriate to widen the scope of use to include the civilian population. A Critical Incident De-briefer, Chris is therefore aware of the requirements, methods and responsibilities placed upon Critical Incident De-briefers either in a group or in an individual situation and is competent to deliver this service to survivors, victims and rescue services involved in critical incidents from which emotional trauma may develop. Chris is a practitioner and trainer. Looking at life from a different perspective now – what could you do if you were asked to assist should a disaster occur in your area? What could you do to help? Chris is keen to speak to people who are interested in learning more about Critical Incident Debriefing, a method that gives confidence to deal with traumatic situations, traffic accidents or physical assault, and even the occurrence of natural disasters. Critical Incident Debriefing will enable therapists who are not working directly with the rescue services to utilise the process for the benefit of the public. It can be used by a wide variety of therapeutic practitioners on a one to one or group basis. |
